Cutting Edge Diagnostic and Treatment Tools
- Velscope– a wireless, handheld scope that uses natural tissue fluorescence to enhance the way clinicians visualize oral mucosal abnormalities that might not be apparent or even visible to the naked eye.
- CariVu– This wand like device, painlessly hugs the tooth, bathing it in safe, near-infrared light. This technology makes the enamel appear transparent while porous lesions trap and absorb the light. This essentially allows the clinician to see through the tooth, exposing its structure and the actual structure of any carious lesions with very high accuracy.
- Laser Treatment Technology-Allows us to treat various soft tissues concerns such as cold sores and gum disease by removing bacteria.
Treatment for Periodontal Disease
As a standard of care at Prairie Dental, every patient undergoes a periodontal screening during each hygiene visit at no cost. For those patients who are diagnosed with periodontal disease following this screening, scaling and root planing would be the next recommended step. This is commonly known as a “deep cleaning”. It is important to note that over half of the country’s population has periodontal disease. Having this deep cleaning and maintaining the results allows you to keep your happy and healthy smile.
Endodontics
Root canal treatment is used to save teeth which would otherwise need to be removed. It is needed when the blood or nerve supply of the tooth (known as the pulp) is infected through decay or injury. This procedure is followed by building up the tooth structure and protecting it with a crown to prevent the tooth from fracturing.
Crowns/Bridges/Partials
If you have a damaged or unattractive tooth, crowns, bridges, or partials are a highly successful treatment that can protect, reinforce, and beautify your smile. In just two to three visits, you can have your tooth crown placed and enjoy the feeling and appearance of your smile again.
Implants
Dental implants provide long-term or permanent anchoring of crowns, dental bridges or dentures while offering the added benefit of helping to halt bone loss in the jaw. They are as comfortable as real teeth and look completely natural.
